Objectives

The main objective of NIIFT is to assist the Textile, Fashion and Apparel industry in India in meeting the challenges of industrial competitiveness on global front.

• It provides expertise to industry which is rather instrumental in the context of our national aim of strengthening it's potential of generating foreign exchange earnings and generating employment.

• To award diplomas, certificates and other distinctions at various levels to the candidates trained and to prescribe standards of proficiency before such awards.
  

• To institute an award, fellowship, scholarship, prizes and medals in accordance of rules and regulations and by laws.
  
• To confer honorary awards and other distinctions.
  
• To under-take selected applied research studies and applications there of in areas of textile, fashion and garment industries; particularly concerning the integration of regionally produced material the requirement of mass production, improved product design and International marketing.
  
• To meet the needs of Indian textile, fashion and garment industry and commerce in respect of up-to-date information on Textile, fashion and Garment's Technology through research & publication of literature with particular reference to the programme of the textile, fashion and garment industry in the country and to provide technical assistance to artisans, craftsmen, rnanufacturers, and exporters of textile, fashion garment products.
